Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and learner-focused individual to lead Literacy and Numeracy provision across the College.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educational leader to coordinate and develop high-quality Literacy and Numeracy provision across multiple campuses, supporting learner achievement, progression and success.
As Head of Literacy and Numeracy, you will play a key role in shaping and leading provision across the College, ensuring learners have access to engaging, inclusive and high-quality learning experiences. Working collaboratively with colleagues across vocational and academic areas, you will help drive innovation, quality improvement and outstanding learner outcomes across GCSE English and Mathematics, Essential Skills Wales, ESOL and wider Literacy and Numeracy provision.

What you will be doing


  • Lead and coordinate Literacy and Numeracy provision across Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion
  • Oversee GCSE English and Mathematics, Essential Skills Wales, ESOL and related Skills provision
  • Support high standards in Teaching and Learning across Literacy and Numeracy delivery
  • Monitor learner attendance, engagement, achievement and progression, implementing interventions where required
  • Coordinate operational processes including timetabling, examinations, learner enrolment and performance monitoring
  • Lead Professional Learning and staff development relating to Literacy and Numeracy across vocational and academic provision
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, support services and external stakeholders to enhance learner outcomes
  • Promote innovative, inclusive and learner-centred approaches to Literacy and Numeracy delivery
  • Support the embedding of bilingual and Welsh-medium practice across provision
  • Contribute to cross-college quality improvement and curriculum development initiatives
  • Use performance data and quality processes to drive continuous improvement and learner success
  • Manage and support the Literacy and Numeracy delivery team, including performance management and staff development

What you will need


Welsh Language Requirements:
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 desirable
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 desirable

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has a degree or equivalent qualification and a recognised teaching qualification
  • Has experience of delivering GCSE English, Mathematics and/or Essential Skills Wales provision
  • Has experience of leading or supporting teams within an educational environment
  • Demonstrates strong organisational, operational and communication skills
  • Can analyse performance data and implement effective improvement strategies
  • Has a commitment to high standards of learner experience and outcomes
  • Can work collaboratively across multiple teams and campuses
  • Has knowledge of current developments within Literacy, Numeracy and post-16 education in Wales
  • Is professional, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement
Desirable experience includes curriculum coordination, quality assurance processes, ESOL provision and leading professional learning initiatives.
