Welsh Tutor - Clybiau Plant Cymru

As part of the National Centre for Learning Welsh's Cymraeg Gwaith developments to expand its national Childcare and Early Years offer, Learn Welsh Gwent is looking to appoint a part-time (0.7) tutor to support staff at Clybiau Plant Cymru. The tutor's work will be divided as follows: 3 days (pro-rata) per week supporting learners undertaking Camau Chwarae courses - the majority of whom will be at Mynediad level - and 2 days (pro-rata) per week working with specific childcare clubs, supporting staff working within a network of specific Clybiau Plant. Clwb y Ddraig is the name of the organisation and they are responsible for 10 clubs across the Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly areas, with 46 permanent members of staff across the network, as well as additional staff working during school holidays. The aim is that the training will enable Clwb y Ddraig to offer a wider bilingual provision. The tutor's role will be to support staff to learn and use Welsh in their jobs, including carrying out level assessments at the beginning of the period of work. The provision offered will be based on learners' levels. The tutor will need to adapt the provision and teaching methods so that the support is appropriate for specific individuals. The National Centre's curriculum should be followed as the basis for lessons for these individuals, ensuring progression over the 9-month period. The tutor's role will include delivering lessons and training sessions to groups of learners. The tutor will attend club sessions, providing support and encouragement to staff to develop and practise their Welsh within a Childcare and Play context. The tutor undertaking this role will be required to attend the equivalent of 3 days' training provided by Clybiau Plant Cymru. This will enable the tutor to attend the childcare clubs and gain a better understanding of the type of language that will be useful to staff. This training is essential, and the National Centre will coordinate between the Tutor and Clybiau Plant Cymru. The tutor will also be required to gather workforce feedback on the provision. The tutor will be required to obtain an enhanced DBS check before commencing the role. This is initially a fixed-term part-time (0.7) position until 31 July 2027, although it is anticipated that the post will be extended thereafter. The post will be based at Learn Welsh Gwent in Crosskeys, although there will, naturally, be a significant amount of travel as part of the role.
