We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Specialist Autism Coach to join our team at Coleg Gwent. This role provides a vital complementary service to our existing learner support within the college and focuses on our work to meet the needs of our cohort of autistic learners.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored support to autistic learners, ensuring they can engage fully in college life and succeed academically.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to staff and learners, promoting an inclusive environment where autistic learners can thrive.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and address barriers to learning, fostering positive outcomes for all learners.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience supporting autistic individuals in an educational or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of autism and strategies to promote inclusion and engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to use the Welsh language at a basic level (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable.

Safeguarding and employment checks: The College is committed to safeguarding, ensuring the safety and welfare of children and young people. Employment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) if appropriate. Applicants may be required to pay for the Enhanced Disclosure and EWC registration. Lecturing posts require a teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE) or willingness to attain one within a specified time. This will be a contract requirement and EWC registration.
