We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Chef to join us in leading and managing a team of Chefs and Kitchen Team at ial Restaurant, our college industry fine dining restaurant. This is a unique opportunity where you will be responsible for ensuring the team provides an excellent dining experience, including contemporary food which reflects modern cookery processes and service styles.
As a Head Chef you will manage the purchasing of food, profit and loss, allocate workforce to ensure the restaurant opening hours reflect the industry and labour margin is maintained within budget to provide a high quality offering. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment levels in the kitchen, supporting sustainability and displaying best practice in purchasing, recycling, waste disposal and ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene are adhered to at all times.
This role will involve working closely with the curriculum and commercial team to enhance student experience in real life working kitchens, provide inspiring leadership and pastoral support where necessary including safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults. You will also attend weekly management meetings to discuss commercial performance and student progress.
Essential Requirements- NVQ 3 in Cookery or equivalent
- Basic & Intermediate Food Hygiene Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ previous experience of working in a kitchen environment at a similar level
- Track record of working in excellent catering establishments
- Excellent kitchen management skills combined with outstanding cookery and purchasing skills
