Assistant Principal – Deeside campus. Permanent full‑time contract. The role involves leading the Foundation Learning curriculum and driving high‑quality learning experiences for diverse learners. Salary range £69,438 – £76,280.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Leadership: Drive curriculum development, delivery and monitoring to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Team Management: Inspire and manage staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Learner Support: Ensure outstanding support for learners, handling pastoral care and disciplinary matters with empathy and professionalism.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead quality initiatives, including internal verification and self‑assessment, to maintain high standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educational Background: Degree in a relevant specialist area.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven record of successful leadership in an educational environment, especially with learners who are hard to reach.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of engaging a wide range of audiences.
  • Strategic Relationships: Confidence and interpersonal skill to build and maintain key strategic relationships.

Knowledge & Expertise

  • Comprehensive understanding of teaching, learning and assessment processes.
  • Experienced with supporting young people with ALN and extensive barriers to learning.

Welsh Language

  • Welsh skills are desirable for this post. The college supports development of Welsh language and culture and offers training plans and incentive payments for bilingual delivery.

Legal and Safeguarding

  • Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) applies. The role requires an Enhanced DBS with Barred List check, and applicants must disclose all cautions and convictions, including spent ones. Disclosure does not automatically prevent employment; a risk assessment will be carried out. Registration with the Education Workforce Council may be required.
