Job Summary

We currently have a vacancy for a lecturer in Engineering. The successful candidate will deliver a range of Engineering based courses in Further Education levels (L2 - L3) at our Bersham Road campus. Displaying energy and enthusiasm in the learning environment, you will perform scheduled teaching sessions, prepare learning materials, mark students' work, liaise with awarding bodies and exam invigilation as required. Providing educational guidance and support for all students of various backgrounds and with a wide range of learning needs, you will liaise with tutors from other business areas with regard to resources, curriculum development, student reports and other related matters, and complete and produce documentation such as registers, schemes of work, records of work, course review and student reports.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent in a professionally relevant subject area.
  • Hold an appropriate teaching qualification such as PGCE, Certificate in Education, or be willing to work towards one.
  • Possess a strong understanding and application of mathematical based subjects.
  • Be able to demonstrate how you keep up with ongoing developments in your own specialist area.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong team player.
  • Develop and use a range of teaching and learning techniques and prepare effective written and visual teaching materials.
  • Be self-motivated, well organised and able to work on your own initiative and to agreed deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of IT, including packages such as Microsoft Office, and ideally in Google applications.
  • Awareness of the importance of quality standards within teaching.
  • Proficient use of CAD/CAM.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable for this position.
