We are seeking an experienced self‑employed Surfacing Installation Team Leader on behalf of a leading surfacing company. The company offers a range of surface solutions for play, sports and recreation, including resin‑bound, wet‑pour, shock pad and artificial grass and grass mats, to a wide customer base that covers Education, Local Authority, New Build Developer, Trade & Contractor.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the installation of surfacing (playgrounds, parks, play areas and other outdoor sites) across the UK.
- Lead and work alongside a small team, supporting, training and developing them to increase surfacing preparation, mixing and installation knowledge.
- Mark out and lay a mix of safety surfacing including wet‑pour, resin‑bound, shock pad, artificial grass and grass mats. Full training will be given if artificial grass experience is lacking.
- Ensure work is completed safely, on time and to specification and quality standards.
- Collect and store materials from the depot, or take receipt of materials on site (unloading and storing).
- Be responsible for the company van, all company tools, plant and equipment assigned to you.
- Ensure safe transit of materials/vehicles on site.
- Maintain daily site housekeeping, record keeping, a tidy workplace and clear waste from the site.
- Take receipt of materials on site and/or collect from the depot ahead of the installation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience installing resin‑bound or wet‑pour surfacing solutions.
- Ability to lead a team.
- Good knowledge of different surfacing materials and the correct installation process (full initial training will be given during induction).
- CSCS Card.
- Enhanced DBS.
- Reliable, hardworking, punctual with good communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Groundworks experience to prepare the ground for installation, or experience checking groundworks for correct base preparation and sizing. Not all projects require groundworks, but experience is useful where applicable.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away as needed (may be one month one time, then two–three weeks the next).
Remuneration & Benefits
- Day rate of £150.00 to £180.00, depending on experience.
- Company van and fuel card.
- Hotel accommodation or, for longer away periods, an Airbnb with kitchen, living room and bedroom.
- Daily subsistence allowance when staying away.
