Catering Assistant - Part-time in Colchester

Position Overview

Our friendly and supportive Catering team are looking to appoint a Permanent Part‑time Catering Assistant to help prepare and serve food and beverages, as well as maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and restaurant.

The role would suit someone who is passionate about cooking, who would like to work in Catering but with more sociable hours during term time. The successful applicant will have enthusiasm to learn and be good at working as part of a busy team, helping them to prepare high‑quality, nutritious food from scratch to an excellent standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Help prepare and serve food and beverages.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and restaurant.
• Support the catering team during busy periods.

Experience & Skills

Experience of working in a kitchen, retail or cleaning environment is desirable but not essential. Training and support will be provided.

Working Hours

The working pattern is between 9.30am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday, term time only, including inset days, with additional hours for ad‑hoc events.

Salary

LGPS 2 points 3‑4 – £14,363‑£14,588 per annum (actual annual salary £24,796‑£25,185 FTE).
