About the role:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, resilient network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Ensure optimal performance, availability, and scalability aligned with business needs.
  • Continuously monitor network performance, capacity, and reliability using appropriate tools.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to maintain service levels.
  • Operate and manage security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and secure gateways.
  • Ensure systems are configured in line with security best practices.
  • Monitor for security threats and respond to incidents in line with incident management procedures.
  • Investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scanning, risk assessments, and remediation activities.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritise and address security weaknesses.
  • Manage network access controls, authentication mechanisms, and privileged access.
  • Ensure the principle of least privilege is consistently applied.
  • Support the development and enforcement of network and security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and organisational requirements.
  • Plan and implement network and security changes through formal change control processes.
  • Apply patches and updates to minimise risk and service disruption.

Essential Qualifications:

  • BTEC level 3 or above.
  • CCNA, CompTIA Network or Security +.
  • A computing degree is desirable.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience of working with firewalls, switches, routers and wireless networks.
  • Knowledge of Wireshark and NMap.
  • Understanding of MS Azure and experience of managing an enterprise network.
  • A working knowledge of Linux.
