We are seeking an Employer and Student Engagement Manager to support employer partnerships and coordinate student work placements within Business, Accounting & Computing. The role focuses on maintaining strong employer relationships, organising high-quality work placement opportunities, and supporting students to develop employability skills and progress into positive destinations, including apprenticeships.

About the role:
  • Coordinate and support employer engagement and industry partnerships to promote and grow curriculum provision.
  • Maintain and build on established relationships with key employers and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Curriculum Leaders to develop and manage work placement processes, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are met.
  • Lead on the organisation of student work placement opportunities and act as the main point of contact for employers.
  • Ensure employers fully understand student roles, expectations and placement requirements.
  • Prepare and support students for work placements, including workplace behaviour, punctuality, travel arrangements and professional conduct.
  • Support students to develop employability skills, including applications, interviews, employer-led projects and progression into apprenticeships.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure work placements meet Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Welfare requirements.
  • Monitor and record work placement activity, maintaining accurate and auditable records for awarding bodies and funding regulators.
  • Develop and maintain accurate employer and customer records using the College CRM system.
  • Promote Colchester Institute's employer-led products and services in partnership with internal teams.
  • Maintain regular communication with employers and students throughout placement periods, providing ongoing support where required.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Good experience of providing customer focused support, and dealing with complex enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT experience, including Microsoft Office products to produce clear and accurate communications, using information from databases and other systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work and develop relationships with students and key stakeholders.
  • Proven effectiveness in the leadership or co-ordination of a team of staff or can demonstrate/evidence the abilities and approach to successfully lead a team of staff.
  • Educated to A Level Standard or Equivalent.
