Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Cervical Screening Provider Lead who will oversee and coordinate the quality and effectiveness of the NHS Cervical Screening Programme (NHSCSP) within East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be responsible for maintaining close working relationships between all parts of the Trust’s cervical screening activities and stakeholders. You should also ensure close working relationships are maintained with other CSPLs across the screening pathway to provide continuity across the programme.

Senior professionals likely to fulfil the role include:

  • Consultant cellular pathologists
  • Non-training grade experienced senior colposcopists or consultant colposcopists
  • Laboratory lead biomedical scientists (BMS) or consultant BMS
  • Senior nurse colposcopists or lead colposcopy nurses

This post is 7.5 hours per week (or 8 hours if medical). The role can be remote but the successful candidate must be accessible to site for QA visits.

If you are kind, innovative and highly experienced, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the centre for communications about the NHS Cervical Screening Programme; coordinate relevant histology and colposcopy and advise Trust management on cervical screening matters.
  • Ensure that laboratory and colposcopy performance complies with NHS Cervical Screening Programme guidelines and standards and take appropriate action where they do not. This includes maintaining appropriate links between general practices, the laboratory and colposcopy clinics and ensuring suitable, timely treatment is available for women with cervical cytology abnormalities.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of the ESNEFT services according to NHSCSP standards and guidelines and take appropriate action to address any shortfalls or escalate appropriately.
  • Ensure timely collection and submission of data for national mandatory statistical returns and data for routine and ad hoc programme monitoring for NHS England commissioners, SQAS and other organisations.
  • Review data relating to the service provided by ESNEFT and monitor performance against nationally and locally agreed standards.

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes. We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, flexible working options and a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offers a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients. We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.
