Face‑to‑face interviews will take place at Christchurch Mansion on 27 May 2026.

Do you have a passion for delivering inspiring, well‑run events and exceptional visitor experiences? Are you motivated by balancing cultural value with commercial success, and excited by the opportunity to help shape a museum’s future?

We are seeking a proactive and energetic Events and Commercial Development Officer to play a vital role across Ipswich Museums, delivering high‑quality events and venue hire while helping to embed commercial thinking that supports our cultural mission. This role works across all Ipswich Museum sites. Christchurch Mansion is currently our primary commercial venue while Ipswich Museum is closed for a major refurbishment.

Alongside delivering a lively and welcoming programme at our open sites, you will play a key role in planning and developing the commercial events and income‑generating workstreams for Ipswich Museum, ensuring we are ready to go live when the museum reopens next spring.

We see culture and commerce as working hand‑in‑hand. Income‑generating activity enables us to care for collections, engage communities and deliver ambitious programmes, and this role sits at the heart of making that happen in a visitor‑focused and inclusive way.

You will be the first point of contact for commercial event and venue hire enquiries, providing a warm, professional service and proactively converting interest into confirmed bookings. You’ll coordinate events end‑to‑end, ensuring smooth logistics, safe operations and memorable experiences for clients, guests and visitors.

You’ll be confident working with booking systems and the back‑end of a CRM, maintaining accurate records of enquiries, bookings and event delivery, and using this information to support planning, reporting and income generation.

Working closely with colleagues across our service, you’ll help develop and promote our events offer and identify opportunities to grow audiences and income. The role will involve some evening and weekend work.

CIMS strives for diversity in its workforce, so we are seeking people with different life experiences to broaden our thinking and improve representation in the work we do. We particularly welcome applications from D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people, People of Colour and people from lower socio‑economic backgrounds.
