About the Role

Building safety has always been an important area of Colchester Borough Homes activity. As an organisation we are taking the necessary steps to ensure that we address all the requirements of legislation, including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act as well as emerging themes from the Social Housing Regulation Bill. We also need to ensure our ongoing compliance with the Big 6 Health and Safety categories (Asbestos, Legionella, Gas, Lifts, Fire and Electrical). CBH requires a staffing structure with the necessary capacity and resources to meet these demands.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Building Safety team. We are recruiting a Compliance Surveyor (Electrical and Lifts) who will report into the Building Safety Manager. The successful candidate will be required to manage, develop, and maintain housing managed by CBH including electrical installation condition reports, thorough examinations, and servicing. The successful candidate will also be required to manage specified projects and contracts to CCC within CCC buildings/assets, and properties owned or managed by external clients, and will be required to support Asset Managers in the management of specified projects and contracts.

About You

Applicants must have an understanding and working knowledge of health and safety legislation, electrical testing, lift servicing and maintenance. Applicants must also have knowledge of building and construction projects, and a good awareness of facilities management.
