We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Casual Senior Cycle Instructor to play a leading role in the delivery and ongoing development of our cycling programme.

The successful candidate will have a passion for helping people of all ages and abilities develop their cycling skills, confidence and enjoyment of the sport in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality instructed cycling sessions across a range of disciplines, working with children, adults, schools, community groups and underrepresented audiences.

As a senior instructor, you will use your specialist knowledge and experience to support rider progression, contribute to programme development and help identify opportunities to grow participation through outreach activities, events and partnerships.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and customer service skills who can positively engage participants, parents, schools and partner organisations.

You will be confident in adapting sessions to suit different ages, abilities and confidence levels, while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety and operational practice.

The ideal candidate will also be comfortable supporting and mentoring other instructors, volunteers and assistants, helping to ensure a consistent, professional and high-quality experience for everyone taking part in our cycling activities.

A proactive approach, strong organisational skills and a genuine commitment to promoting active lifestyles within the local community are essential for this role

Duties of the Role

  • Lead inclusive cycling programmes for children, adults and community groups.
  • Deliver specialist cycling instruction and adapt activities to different abilities.
  • Support rider progression through assessment, planning and evaluation.
  • Support programme development, outreach activities and events.
  • Provide guidance to instructors, volunteers and assistants.
  • Maintain partnerships with schools, clubs and community organisations.
  • Complete bicycle and equipment safety inspections.
  • Maintain records, attendance information and incident reports.
  • Support promotional activity and community engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, equality and data protection requirements.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • British Cycling Level 2 Instructing Qualification or equivalent.
  • Delivery-specific qualification or specialist cycling instructing experience.
  • Experience leading cycling sessions for different ages and abilities.
  • First Aid at Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Safeguarding training and understanding of working with children and vulnerable adults.

Desirable

  • Bikeability Instructor Qualification.
  • Cytech or Velotech accreditation.
  • Experience mentoring instructors or volunteers.
  • Experience delivering outreach programmes and events.
