The Council are seeking a Benefits Case Worker who has a good awareness of Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Support and Universal Credit processes and regulations. You will also have positive communication skills, ability to work as part of a team but also individually and be able to work to performance goals.

Duties of the role:

  • As an essential member of the Benefits Processing team, you will be able to work in a team administering claims for Housing Benefit and Local Council Tax Support.
  • Assess and calculate new claims, changes in circumstances, handle compliance anomalies as well as answer and resolve at first point of contact direct customer queries.
  • Carry out duties in respect of non-payment of Housing Benefit overpayments.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Be educated to a ‘A level’ standard or have the equivalent in experience.
  • A high-level knowledge and/or relevant proven experience in administration of Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Support and Universal Credit.
  • Experience of working directly with customers.
  • Excellent customer and communication skills.
  • The ability to deliver against personal and team targets.
