Colchester United Football Club are seeking a full-time academy therapist to help drive medical standards within our exciting and progressive Category 2 Academy.
Key Responsibilities:
- To oversee the medical provision for the 9s-16s age groups within the academy.
- To support and assist part time staff physio / sports therapy in the assessment and treatment of all players in the academy.
- Ensure all part-time staff record medical notes using Kitman Labs as required.
- To develop all areas of the medical department from Academy under 9s to under 21s with the relevant staff.
- To plan, deliver and review all individual injury programmes to ensure the correct procedures are put in place to give the best course of action and earliest possible return to training and playing for each player.
- To liaise with the Sports Science department on return to play processes for the benefit of the recovering player.
- To be responsible for on and off field treatment of all players at all Academy fixtures.
- To undertake all relevant qualification and CPD requirements for individual and departmental progression.
- Produce emergency action plans for each venue and ensure these are communicated clearly and supervised by appropriate staff on matchdays ensuring both Home and Away staff have a clear understanding of club policy and procedures.
- Complete quarterly injury reports for the academy, demonstrating types of injury, occurrences and possible methods for avoidance.
- Ensure all players joining the club complete the appropriate medical screening and declarations documents as club policy indicates.
- Always have accountability and responsibility for safeguarding.
Requirements:
- The Academy Physiotherapist shall be a registered Physiotherapist member of the Health and Care Professions Council or hold an Undergraduate degree in Sports Therapy.
- Have recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment.
- Hold a current FA Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (or an equivalent or higher qualification approved by the Board) or FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management.
Person Specification:

- Good communication skills.
Salary: £28k per annum
