Salary: £29.79 per hour PAYE or £38.97 per hour limited paid via umbrella company inside IR35
Availability: minimum 2 days per week
Position end: until March 2027
Responsibilities
- Oversee a dedicated team of four officers providing specialist support and advice under the Renters Rights Act.
- Provide strategic leadership, expert technical expertise and staff management across advice, casework and enforcement activity relating to the advertising, letting and ending of private rented sector tenancies.
- Build a high‑performing team, ensuring residents receive accurate, timely, person‑centred advice on their rights and protections.
- Investigate breaches of tenancy law, enforce lawfully, proportionately and consistently.
- Collect evidence up to court‑admissible standards and lead the council with Legal on taking cases to court for criminal prosecution or issuing and collecting civil penalty fines.
- Work closely with Homelessness Prevention and partners across ASC, CSC, Health, VAWG services and voluntary sector organisations.
- Drive service improvements, develop operational policy and maintain high‑quality standards.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of tenancy law, security of tenure, unlawful eviction, harassment and investigatory frameworks.
- Experience managing or supervising complex casework within a statutory or regulatory context.
- Ability to lead service improvements, develop operational policy and maintain high‑quality standards.
- Strong leadership, communication and partnership‑working skills.
- Proactive, resident‑centred and trauma‑informed approach to working with residents.
