Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Revenues and Benefits Manager. On site 1 day per week. Some flexibility for the right candidate. Need managers underneath senior leaders to support. Looking for an experienced person who can provide support to the senior managers.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing management of the team assistance.
- Collecting local Council tax and business rates revenues.
- Managing policy arrangements regarding local discretionary schemes, business rates reliefs, and council tax reduction schemes.
- Integration with crisis resilience fund.
- Payment of local benefits including council tax support grants and housing benefits.
- Ensuring appropriate governance for locally administered aspects of these functions in line with government guidance and statutory requirements.
- Management of Council debts and payments arrangements.
- Delivering an efficient and effective revenues collection and benefits payments service on behalf of the council.
- Maintaining oversight and effective delivery of revenues collection and benefits payments functions.
- Ensuring a timely and robust debt, arrears, and overpayment recovery process.
- Responding to new Government funding announcements and initiatives.
- Promoting and supporting digitalisation of business rates and council tax processes.
- Implementing and delivering new or changed business rates reliefs.
- Ensuring continual improvement and innovation within the team.
- Providing an efficient and effective Council Tax and NNDR service to the Council.
- Maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all legal requirements pertaining to local revenue matters.
- Developing service specifications, business plans, and annual work programmes.
- Ensuring the accurate Annual Billing of Council Tax and NNDR.
- Promoting effective debt management and recovery policies.
- Ensuring effective liaison with relevant external agencies and organisations.
- Designing, implementing, and managing one-off revenues discretionary schemes as required.
