Our client is looking for an experienced Council Tax and Revenues Officer. Experience in CT billing and the MRI/Academy system is essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Accurate and timely administration of Council Tax Billing in accordance with legislation to maximise collection of Council Tax.
- Dealing directly with customers and stakeholders over the phone and in writing to provide an excellent service to residents.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Council Tax legislation and case law to enable accurate billing and maximise collection.
- Working as a team member and contributing ideas to assist in improving the work and customer experience.
- Providing a high-quality and customer-focused service giving advice on Council Tax through face-to-face interviews, telephone, and electronic channels.
- Liaising with other internal teams and external agencies as required.
- Prioritising and managing own workloads to ensure objectives and targets are achieved and customer requirements are met.
- Complying with new and existing Council Tax legislation and working practices, and being familiar with the Local Council Tax Reductions scheme.
- Determining applications and reviews for discounts, exemptions, disregards, and reductions after gathering all relevant information and verification required.
- Setting up different payment methods ensuring compliance with direct debit rules as required.
- Demonstrating awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social, and welfare needs.
- Any other duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably allocated.
