Board and Governance Officer Northampton Contract £18.86 per hour Our client is looking for an experienced Board and Governance Officer Hours: 37.5 hours per week (30 hours considered over 4 days) Location: Hybrid working – Westbridge office, Northampton NN5 5JW (up to 3 days on site) Contract: Fixed term assignment until 31st March 2027 Start Date: ASAP Interview Process: Informal Teams discussion followed by a formal face-to-face interview This is a unique standalone role supporting the organisation's Board and Committee governance functions. Reporting to the Head of Regulation and Governance, you will be responsible for managing the full governance cycle, ensuring meetings run effectively, maintaining statutory compliance, and acting as a key point of contact for Board Members and senior stakeholders. This is one of many roles we are recruiting for please visit our website colbernlimited co uk As Board and Governance Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring NPH maintains high standards of governance, transparency, and regulatory compliance. You will coordinate Board and Committee meetings, manage governance records, support statutory obligations, and oversee key governance activities including Board member development and appraisal processes. This is a time-critical position requiring excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Organising and coordinating Board and Committee meetings, including agendas, reports and meeting packs. Attending meetings, taking accurate minutes, recording decisions and tracking actions through to completion. Managing governance calendars and meeting schedules. Acting as the primary point of contact for Board Member queries and governance-related enquiries. Maintaining governance records, registers, declarations of interest and Board membership information. Supporting statutory filings and updating Companies House records. Coordinating Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs). Administering Board member recruitment, onboarding and induction processes. Managing Board appraisal and development programmes, including reviewing and coordinating supporting documentation. Supporting governance audits, compliance reviews and assurance activities. Maintaining secure and accurate governance documentation and records. Assisting with governance projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Meeting Commitments The successful candidate must be able to support evening Board meetings which take place on Wednesdays. Typically 6:00pm to 8:00pm/8:30pm. Quarterly cycle of approximately five meetings. Two meetings are usually held on site, with the remainder conducted via Microsoft Teams. We're Looking For Someone Who Has Previous experience supporting Boards, Committees or governance functions. Experience organising meetings, producing agendas, taking minutes and tracking actions. Knowledge of governance best practice and statutory compliance requirements. Experience maintaining registers and supporting Companies House filings. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines. Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders and Board Members. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications. The confidence to work independently and proactively drive governance processes forward. Desirable Experience within the housing sector or a regulated environment. Experience supporting company secretary or governance-related duties. Governance qualification (ICSA/CGI) or equivalent practical experience.
