Our client is looking for an experienced Parks and Green Spaces Officer. Responsibilities include:
- Day to day management, front line management to deal with sickness leave, annual leave, rotas.
- Strategic delivery of the council’s Parks & Green Spaces function ensuring all areas of the council’s public open space are safe, clean, and looking good.
- Lead the Parks & Green Space teams ensuring high standards of service delivery in line with all statutory and best practice requirements.
- Coordinate all operational teams to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Manage service function income and expenditure in line with all council standing orders.
- Maintain a high level of professional competence, knowledge, and understanding of regulatory practices, procedures, and issues for the service area.
- Manage section procurement as necessary.
- Represent the section and the council in a professional manner via the service function being operated.
- Deliver project management initiatives as necessary.
- Understand and produce service performance data.
- Lead, develop, and optimise business systems and opportunities to increase income from existing services.
- Drive the digital process at C&E to realise service efficiencies.
- Maintain strong relationship networking circles with all key partners, agencies, business clients, and relevant third-party agents.
- Keep abreast of evolving landscapes relative to all service functions, especially commercial opportunities, joint enterprises, legal revisions, and industry best practice.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- Degree in a managerial or professional/technical field and/or relevant qualitative experience in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of all legal and guidance protocols associated with this role.
- Strong operational experience of working within a similar multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, external stakeholders, residents, and elected Members.
- High levels of personal organisation, self-motivation, and initiative to achieve goals.
- Computer literate with extensive experience of using MS Office packages.
- Experience of delivering change, including supporting teams in a positive way to drive efficiencies.
- Experience of managing large budgets.
- Ability to lead, deal with conflict, motivate, and work as part of a team to implement change.
- Strong operational health & safety experience.
- Full driving licence.
Desirable qualifications include:
- A formal health & safety qualification.
- Experience of operational bespoke software.
