Our client is looking for an experienced Housing Options Officer for a contract role in Kettering, paying £30 per hour (limited, paid via umbrella company, inside IR35). The role involves working 4 days in the Kettering office and 1 day at home.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a primary point of contact for households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, providing an effective triage service to assess initial housing needs, risks, and eligibility for assistance.
  • Taking swift and decisive action to mitigate risks of eviction or homelessness, delivering timely and appropriate advice and referrals based on circumstances and statutory entitlements.
  • Delivering tailored, proactive, and person-centred advice to prevent or relieve homelessness, including negotiating with landlords and identifying suitable alternative accommodation.
  • Managing a varied caseload, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, guidance, and the Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Working collaboratively across the Housing Solutions service with internal departments and external agencies to deliver holistic accommodation and support solutions.
  • Providing empathetic, professional, and high-quality customer service, resolving queries and complaints promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records on all cases using the Council’s homelessness case management system.
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns for vulnerable individuals and taking appropriate action in line with safeguarding protocols.
  • Taking responsibility for own learning and development in relation to updates to legislation and best practices.
  • Providing flexible support to meet service demands during peak periods or emergencies.
  • Identifying trends and areas for improvement within the Housing Solutions Service and contributing ideas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
