Our client is looking for an experienced Payroll and Finance Officer. As a Payroll & Finance Officer, you will manage payroll processes and ensure accurate financial records. You'll play a key role in maintaining compliance with regulations and providing essential financial support to the service. This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days per week onsite in Coventry and would suit a candidate with strong payroll administration and payroll reconciliation experience, coupled with exposure to finance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll balancing and reconciliations
  • Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Processing and validating payroll data
  • Supporting BACS payments and payroll transactions
  • Payroll compliance activities including statutory deductions
  • Supporting payroll audits and year-end processes
  • Maintaining accurate payroll and financial records
  • Assisting with budgetary, reporting and financial control activities
  • Providing support and guidance to internal and external stakeholders

Essential Experience:

  • Previous payroll processing experience
  • Payroll reconciliation and balancing experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Experience using payroll and finance systems
  • Ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team

Desirable Experience:

  • Payroll Bureau experience
  • Pensions administration experience
  • Local Government experience
  • ResourceLink payroll system experience
  • Unit4 / Business World finance system experience
  • Knowledge of IR35 and P11D processes
