Purpose of the Role
To coordinate and support the allocation of resources required for the safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of Colas Rail Freight services.
This will be achieved in alignment with Colas Rail Freight rostering guidelines, staff terms and conditions, and customer requirements, including those of commercial customers and Network Rail Supply Chain Operations.
To develop and maintain staff rosters from initial planning through to successful delivery, working closely with Freight Delivery Managers and guided by the Freight Resourcing Lead.
To provide a welcoming and reliable point of contact for drivers and ground staff within the region, offering ongoing support and clear communication.
Where will I be located?
The role holder will work from the Rugby office five days a week and work alongside the wider team. Training will be provided on all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all rosters are maintained to a high quality and accuracy standard.
- Take ownership of and support the full lifecycle of rosters, handling amendments, cancellations, or sickness in collaboration with Delivery Managers.
- Report to and work closely with the Delivery Manager on day‑to‑day activities, under guidance from the Freight Rostering Lead.
- Participate in weekly meetings with Delivery Managers and the Freight Rostering Lead to align on resource planning and work allocation.
- Build strong working relationships to support route learning and maintenance of route and traction knowledge for drivers.
- Provide responsive support to Operations Control to monitor, communicate, and action revised timings and same‑day late changes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across operations, including Train Planners, Resource Planners, and Locomotive Planners.
