Purpose of the Role: As a train driver, you will have the opportunity to work on various locomotives: from our class 37s to state of art class 70s. You will be a key player to run our Freight services in the Wessex and Western region. You will be empowered to ensure a safe and reliable service operation of freight trains as a role model Train Driver offering a best in class service.

Person Specification:

  • Train Driver Experience with established route knowledge in the Wessex region (or Western region and with the desire to expand into the Wessex area).
  • Ensure safety of the line and all employees and public that may be affected by the operation of trains.
  • A clean safety record.
  • A current PTS (third rail) appropriate to CTRL.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility with working shift patterns.
  • Ability to identify competency standards required as a result of legislation, operational standards and safety procedures and maintain same by audit and surveillance.

Key Responsibilities: In your role, you will work with rostering and training teams, driver standards managers, delivery managers, and staff at all levels so that freight services could run safely, and on time. The organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
