Purpose of the Role: The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the project within the Alliance in support of the Project Director. The role includes the coordination and facilitation of all processes in such a manner that there is minimal impact and disruption on existing operations throughout the project lifecycle.
Person Specification:
- Knowledge of project delivery in a civils environment
- Ability to manage project plans, budgets and workforce
- Managing several projects sections simultaneously with the support of junior project managers
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary project teams
- Experience of delivering within an effective safety culture in a high risk environment
Qualifications:
- Relevant Degree
- Recognised Project Management qualification
- Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management or other professional body
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the different discipline teams throughout the project maintaining a ‘Best for Alliance’ environment.
- Delivery of key elements of the BEE Project in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Alliance Principles.
- Agreeing timescales, costs and resources needed to deliver a project
- Drawing up a detailed plan for how to achieve each stage of a project
- Selecting and leading a project team
- Directing a multi-disciplinary Construction and Rail team
- Communicating with staff at every level, in a calm, personable way
- Overseeing several sections of the projects at the same time
- Ensuring that each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard
- Reporting regularly on progress to the Project Director and stakeholders
- Resolving any issues or delays
