We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Highways and Infrastructure to lead the successful delivery of a highways infrastructure project in Bristol. You will hold full responsibility for programme, cost, quality, and health & safety, ensuring efficient delivery of highways and associated works while maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of delivering transportation infrastructure projects safely, on programme, and within budget.
- Lead and coordinate site teams, including Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and Foremen.
- Oversee delivery of highways, roads, drainage, and associated utility works.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders.
- Chair progress meetings and provide clear, accurate reporting to senior leadership.
- Plan and manage subcontractors, labour, plant, and materials in line with programme requirements.
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage variations, valuations, and overall cost control.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, particularly within live traffic environments.
- Monitor programme performance and proactively manage risks, delays, and logistical challenges.
- Drive efficient delivery in line with traffic management constraints and public interface requirements.
- Complete company IT systems induction and training within the first 1-3 months.
Requirements
- Section 278 Works experience - Essential.
- CITB SMSTS (5-Day) or equivalent.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Site Manager within transportation infrastructure or highways projects.
- Strong knowledge of highways construction, drainage, utilities, and traffic management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience managing projects in live or public-facing environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage costs effectively.
- Reliable, proactive, and solution-focused approach.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience delivering transportation infrastructure or highways projects valued at £5m+.
- NRSWA (Street Works) qualification.
