The Candidate
Based in Smallfield (own transport preferred), this is a full-time, office-based role (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) offering an excellent opportunity for someone with previous recruitment, resourcing or recruitment administration experience who is looking to take the next step in their career within a well-established, fast-paced construction business.
As our Recruitment Assistant, you'll support the sourcing, recruitment and coordination of skilled construction operatives across a variety of live projects.
Working closely with Site Managers and the wider Labour team, you'll help ensure our sites have the skilled workforce they need to keep projects running safely, efficiently and on schedule.
No two days are the same.
You'll build relationships with candidates, coordinate recruitment activities, support onboarding and gain valuable experience in construction recruitment and labour planning, all while receiving ongoing training and mentoring from an experienced team.

Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Work within a team to source, screen and recruit skilled and reliable construction operatives across a variety of trades.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and retention of skilled construction operatives.
- Help build and maintain a talent pipeline of qualified construction operatives.
- Manage candidate relationships from initial contact through to placement and onboarding.
- Labour Management & Allocation
- Assist with coordinating labour allocations across construction sites.
- Liaise with Site Managers to understand upcoming labour requirements and update the team and respond to shortfalls or surpluses promptly.
- Maintain an accurate labour tracker, ensuring real-time knowledge of resource availability.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all operatives are compliant with site safety regulations and possess relevant certifications (e. g. CSCS, CPCS, NPORS) before deployment.
- Assist with onboarding and right-to-work checks.
- Support health and safety initiatives and report non-compliance where necessary.
- Administration & Reporting
- Keep accurate records of recruitment activity, skill grading, training needs and allocations.
- Update recruitment systems and databases with candidate information and placement activity.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on workforce performance and upcoming labour requirements.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience within recruitment, resourcing or recruitment administration (agency or in-house).
- Strong organisational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, comfortable working on the phone and building relationships with candidates and site teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of construction industry qualifications including CSCS and NPORS, and construction trades, site roles and industry terminology.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), CRM or workforce management software.
