We’re currently seeking a skilled Machine Driver with Lifting Ops to join our experienced team, someone who takes pride in their work, operates safely and performs to a consistently high standard on busy construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate an excavator safely and efficiently following all company and site procedures.
  • Excavate strip foundations, drainage runs, service trenches and general digging to accurate levels and lines.
  • Work confidently with trench boxes, drag boxes, manhole boxes and trench sheets ensuring all lifting operations are carried out safely and by the book.
  • Carry out fine grading and finishing works including type 1 topsoil and road formation to required tolerances.
  • Read and interpret drawings, levels and site plans working closely with engineers and supervisors.
  • Obtain and comply with dig permits before breaking ground.
  • Work safely around live services demonstrating strong service-avoidance knowledge and safe digging practices.
  • Complete daily pre-start checks, maintain accurate records and report defects or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Perform routine greasing, cleaning and basic machine maintenance to keep the excavator in excellent condition.
  • Take pride and ownership in the machine’s condition ensuring it is always presented and maintained to a high standard.
  • Support the wider site team adapting to changing priorities and managing time effectively.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • CPCS or NPORS Excavator 360 (above 10T) with Lifting Ops.
  • 5 years experience in groundworks, civil engineering or excavation roles.
  • Experience with GPS / machine control systems (Trimble, Leica, Topcon etc.) is highly advantageous.
  • Additional CPCS / NPORS tickets for Telehandler, Dumper, Roller or similar.
  • SSSTS or willingness to work towards it.
