We are looking for an experienced 5T Machine Driver to join our groundwork and external works teams on projects in Hendon. The role involves operating a 5T excavator across groundwork, drainage, and finishing works while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and plant care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating a 5T excavator for groundwork, drainage, and external works activities
- Carrying out excavation works for footings, shallow drainage, ducting, foundations, kerbing, edgings, slabs, and associated groundwork packages
- Working safely around live services including electric, gas, water, telecoms, and existing infrastructure using safe digging practices and service avoidance techniques
- Operating machinery safely within restricted work areas and following all site safety procedures
- Supporting groundwork gangs, supervisors, and site teams to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
- Excavating, grading, trimming, backfilling, and maintaining levels to drawings and site specifications
- Assisting with traditional groundwork activities including external works, paving, kerbing, and finishing works
- Maintaining safe working areas around excavations and plant operations
- Conducting daily pre-start inspections, safety checks, and basic machine maintenance
- Ensuring all plant is kept clean, fuelled, greased, and in good working condition
REQUIREMENTS
- CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) 360 Excavator Below 10T
- Proven experience operating 5T excavators on groundwork and drainage projects
- Experience working around live services and within excavation environments
- Good understanding of safe excavation practices and groundwork operations
- Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within site teams
- Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious
- Right to work in the UK
DESIRABLE
- Experience on groundwork, external works, and infrastructure projects
- CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
- CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller
- EUSR / Cat & Genny / Confined Spaces qualifications
- Experience with kerbing, slabs, paving, and finishing works
- 5+ yearsβ groundwork experience
