The Candidate: Based in Smallfield (own transport preferred), this office-based role (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within recruitment and the construction industry. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early recruitment experience who is looking to build a long-term career within construction recruitment. Working as part of our busy Labour team, you'll play a key role in sourcing, recruiting and coordinating skilled construction operatives across multiple live projects. This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent communication skills, strong organisation and the confidence to spend much of the working day speaking with candidates, site teams and managers. Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Work within a team to source, screen and recruit skilled and reliable construction operatives across a variety of trades. Maintain a talent pipeline of qualified workers ready for deployment. Manage candidate relationships from initial contact through to placement and onboarding.
- Labour Management & Allocation: Oversee the deployment of labour to active construction sites across the region. Liaise with Site Managers and Project Managers to forecast labour needs and respond to shortfalls or surpluses promptly. Maintain an accurate labour tracker, ensuring real-time knowledge of resource availability.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operatives are compliant with site safety regulations and possess relevant certifications (e.g. CSCS, CPCS, NPORS) before deployment. Assist with onboarding and right-to-work checks. Support health and safety initiatives and report non-compliance where necessary.
- Administration & Reporting: Keep accurate records of recruitment activity, skill grading, training needs and allocations. Update recruitment systems and databases with candidate information and placement activity. Provide regular reports to senior management on workforce performance, utilisation, and upcoming labour requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Ability to assess and report on operatives’ skills and training needs.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry qualifications including CSCS and NPORS, and construction trades, site roles and industry terminology.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, comfortable working on the phone and building relationships with candidates and site teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ATS’s/workforce management systems, or ability to learn.
- Excellent organisational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), CRM or workforce management software.
- Previous experience recruiting within the construction sector.
- Previous agency or internal recruitment experience is preferred.
