ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced

Senior Engineer / Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of residential groundworks project in

Dover . This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical engineering expertise with full project management responsibility.

You will lead the site engineering and management teams, take ownership of setting out and technical compliance, whilst ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness and the ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project Management
  • Overall responsibility for the safe, on-programme and on-budget delivery of projects.
  • Lead and manage the site team, including engineers, foremen, supervisors and site managers.
  • Maintain and develop strong client, consultant and stakeholder relationships.
  • Chair progress meetings and report project performance to senior management and directors.
  • Manage subcontractors, labour, materials and plant resources in line with programme requirements.
  • Support the commercial team with variations, valuations, cost control and change management.
  • Ensure all project health, safety, environmental and quality requirements are met.
  • Drive programme performance and identify solutions to mitigate risks and delays.
  • Engineering Management
  • Take full responsibility for setting out all project elements and controlling line and level.
  • Maintain accurate construction drawings, drawing registers and as-built records.
  • Check building layouts against site boundaries and resolve setting out issues.
  • Raise, track and close out RFIs and technical queries.
  • Implement and oversee Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and quality management systems.
  • Take off and procure groundworks and RC frame materials.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are completed in accordance with design specifications
  • Leadership & Compliance

Promote a positive safety culture across all site operations.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements and industry best practice.
  • Mentor and develop engineering and site management personnel.
  • Support workforce planning and resource allocation across the project.
  • Complete the company IT induction and training programme within the first 1-3 months of employment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • CITB 5-Day SMSTS or equivalent.
  • First Aid at Work Certification
  • CSCS Engineering / Surveying Card or equivalent qualification.
  • Significant experience delivering residential groundworks projects in a Senior Engineer, Senior Site Manager or Project Manager capacity.
  • Strong understanding of setting out, surveying and construction engineering principles.
  • Proficient in the use of Leica EDM equipment and CAD software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and project delivery experience.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively with clients, consultants and site teams.
  • Right to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Experience managing projects valued at £5m+.
  • Temporary works, CAT & Genny or other relevant construction qualifications.
  • Experience across residential groundworks projects
