We are currently seeking an experienced Skilled Pipelayer to support our drainage and infrastructure packages across multiple projects. If you take pride in accuracy, line and level, and delivering drainage works to the highest standard, we want to hear from you.
The Role
As a Skilled Pipelayer, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, and completion of underground drainage systems in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements. You will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Essential Requirements
- Confident in reading and interpreting drainage drawings and technical documentation
- Competent in setting up and safely using trench boxes, drag boxes, and manhole boxes
- Proficient in the use of pipe lasers and maintaining accurate line and level
- Experienced in laying concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of all sizes
- Able to ensure correct bedding, surround, jointing, and pipe testing procedures
- Skilled in manhole construction and benching
- Knowledgeable in groundwater management, including pump selection and setup
- Experienced in correct trench backfilling and compaction methods
- Confident working around live services and applying safe excavation and service avoidance techniques
- Strong understanding of drainage materials, specifications, and industry standards
- Able to carry out daily plant and equipment pre-start checks, reporting defects or servicing requirements promptly
Desirable Skills & Experience
- CPCS/NPORS tickets
- Experience operating plant such as dumpers, rollers, or telehandlers
- 5–10+ years’ experience in drainage and groundworks
- Established gangs or teams with proven experience working together
