We are looking for an experienced Groundworker to join our teams on major groundwork, infrastructure, and civil engineering projects. The role involves carrying out all aspects of traditional groundworks including drainage, hand digging around live services, crane bases, concrete works, and associated external works while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carrying out all aspects of traditional groundworks including drainage, foundations, oversites, slabs, kerbing, ducting, and external works
  • Hand digging and excavating safely around live services including electric, gas, water, and telecoms infrastructure
  • Working in accordance with permit-to-dig systems, service drawings, and safe digging procedures
  • Assisting with drainage installation including deep drainage, storm lines, manholes, ducting, and associated groundwork activities
  • Carrying out excavation support works including trench preparation, backfilling, reinstatement, and concrete surrounds
  • Assisting with crane base construction including digging, preparation, steel fixing support, concrete works, and finishing
  • Installation of caps, ducts, service protection, and associated utility works
  • Using hand tools, small plant, and groundwork equipment safely and effectively
  • Supporting machine operators, lifting teams, and site supervisors to maintain productivity and safe working areas
  • Reading and working from drawings, levels, and site instructions
  • Maintaining clean, safe, and organised working areas at all times
  • Following all site health & safety procedures and reporting hazards where required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in groundworks, drainage, and civil engineering environments
  • Experience hand digging and working safely around live services
  • Good understanding of safe excavation practices and permit-controlled digging
  • CSCS Card
  • Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within site teams
  • Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
  • Right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working on crane bases and heavy civil engineering projects
  • Confined Spaces / EUSR / Cat & Genny qualifications
  • CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
  • CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller
  • CPCS / NPORS 360 Excavator Above & Below 10T
  • Experience in deep drainage and utility installation works
  • 5+ years’ groundwork experience
