We are looking for an experienced Machine Driver to join our groundwork and drainage teams on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects. The role involves operating a range of excavators above and below 10T across live service environments, crane bases, deep drainage, and traditional groundwork operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, productivity, and plant care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating 360 excavators above and below 10T for groundwork, drainage, and infrastructure activities
  • Carrying out excavation works for deep drainage, foundations, crane bases, utilities, roads, ducting, and associated groundwork packages
  • Working safely around live services including electric, gas, water, telecoms, and existing infrastructure using safe digging practices and service avoidance techniques
  • Operating machines in restricted and high-risk environments while following permit-to-dig systems and site safety procedures
  • Carrying out lifting operations using excavators as cranes in line with lifting plans and site requirements
  • Lifting and positioning pipes, manholes, trench boxes, trench sheets, concrete units, ducting, and associated materials safely
  • Supporting drainage gangs, groundwork teams, and supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
  • Excavating, grading, trimming, backfilling, and maintaining levels to drawings, laser levels, and site specifications
  • Carrying out works associated with traditional groundworks including foundations, oversites, slabs, kerbing, roads, and external works
  • Maintaining safe working areas around excavations and plant operations
  • Conducting daily pre-start inspections, safety checks, and basic machine maintenance
  • Ensuring all plant is kept clean, fuelled, greased, and in good working condition

REQUIREMENTS

  • CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) 360 Excavator Above & Below 10T
  • CPCS / NPORS Excavator as Crane / Lifting Operations
  • Proven experience operating excavators on drainage, groundwork, and infrastructure projects
  • Experience working around live services and within permit-controlled excavation environments
  • Strong understanding of safe lifting operations and excavation safety
  • Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within site teams
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious
  • Right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

  • Experience on crane base construction and heavy civil engineering projects
  • GPS machine control experience
  • CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
  • CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller
  • CPCS / NPORS Telehandler
  • CPCS / NPORS Quick Hitch Attachment
  • EUSR / Cat & Genny / Confined Spaces qualifications
  • 5+ years’ groundwork and drainage experience
