We are looking for experienced Skilled Groundworkers to join our teams on S278 and external works projects. The role involves carrying out drainage, road formation, slabs, kerbs, and edging works while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and workmanship. Candidates must have experience working within highways, external works, and groundwork environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out all aspects of S278 and external groundwork activities
  • Installing drainage, ducting, kerbs, edgings, slabs, paving, and associated external works
  • Assisting with road formation, sub-base preparation, concreting, and reinstatement works
  • Carrying out excavation support, backfilling, and groundwork operations safely and efficiently
  • Working safely around live services including electric, gas, water, and telecoms infrastructure
  • Following permit-to-dig systems, service drawings, and safe excavation procedures
  • Supporting machine operators, supervisors, and site teams to maintain productivity and programme targets
  • Using hand tools, small plant, and groundwork equipment safely and effectively
  • Reading and working from drawings, levels, and site instructions
  • Maintaining safe, clean, and organised working areas at all times
  • Following all site health & safety procedures and reporting hazards where required

Requirements

  • Proven experience in S278 works, drainage, and external groundworks
  • Experience with road formation, slabs, kerbs, and edgings
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Good understanding of groundwork and external works procedures
  • Experience working around live services and within excavation environments
  • Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within site teams
  • Strong awareness of health & safety standards
  • Right to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

  • CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
  • CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller
  • EUSR / Cat & Genny qualifications
  • Experience on highways and infrastructure projects
  • 5+ years’ groundwork experience
