We are looking for an experienced 360 Excavator Operator to join an Internal & External Drainage Gang working on major groundwork and infrastructure projects in Hailsham. The role involves operating 14T+ tracked excavators on foul, storm, and surface water drainage installations while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and plant care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating 14T+ 360 tracked excavators for internal and external drainage works
  • Excavating trenches for foul water, storm water, attenuation, and service drainage installations
  • Working closely with the Pipelayer and Topman to ensure safe and efficient pipe installation
  • Trimming stone, backfilling, and maintaining correct trench levels and gradients to drawings and laser levels
  • Installing and lifting drainage materials including pipes, manholes, chambers, trench boxes, and trench sheets
  • Carrying out drainage works safely in accordance with permit-to-dig systems before breaking ground
  • Experienced working around live services and using safe service avoidance techniques
  • Supporting all aspects of internal and external drainage operations across residential and commercial groundwork projects
  • Carrying out daily pre-start inspections, safety checks, and basic machine maintenance
  • Ensuring machines are kept clean, fuelled, greased, and maintained to a high standard

Requirements

  • CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) 360 Excavator Above & Below 10T Tracked
  • CPCS / NPORS Excavator as Crane / Lifting Ops
  • Experience operating 14T+ machines on drainage and deep excavation works
  • Good understanding of internal and external drainage systems and groundwork operations
  • Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a drainage gang
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Deep drainage and sewer installation experience
  • GPS machine control experience
  • CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper
  • CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller
  • CPCS / NPORS Telehandler
  • CPCS / NPORS Quick Hitch Attachment
  • Confined Spaces or EUSR tickets
  • 5+ years’ groundwork/drainage experience
