We are looking for a reliable and hard-working Tarmac Labourer to join our team on busy projects in the Kent Region. You will support both machine lay and hand lay tarmac gangs, assisting with general site duties to ensure surfacing works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting tarmac gangs with machine lay and hand lay operations
  • Raking, shovelling and levelling asphalt as required
  • Supporting roller drivers, paver operators and groundworkers on site
  • Carrying out general site labouring duties to support surfacing works
  • Keeping work areas clean, tidy and safe always
  • Assisting with material handling, movement and preparation
  • Always working safely around plant and machinery
  • Following all site health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Supporting with setting up and closing work areas
  • Working effectively as part of a team to meet programme targets

Requirements

  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Previous experience working as a labourer (tarmac experience preferred)
  • Good understanding of site health and safety practices
  • Ability to work as part of a fast-paced gang environment
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties
  • Reliable, punctual and willing to work outdoors in all conditions
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Experience working within tarmac or highways surfacing gangs
  • Previous experience on construction or civil engineering projects
  • Basic knowledge of machine lay and hand lay processes
  • Confined Space or other site tickets (not essential)
  • Willingness to progress and gain additional plant tickets
  • Ability to manage multiple work fronts and tight programmes
  • Experience working on major infrastructure or highways schemes
