We are seeking an experienced Tarmac Paver Operative to join our team on busy projects in Kent. You will be responsible for operating and assisting with asphalt paving equipment to ensure high-quality road, pathway and surface installations. This role requires a strong understanding of paving operations, a sharp attention to detail and a firm commitment to health and safety standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating and controlling tarmac / asphalt paving machines safely and efficiently
  • Assisting in the laying, spreading and levelling of asphalt materials
  • Monitoring machine settings to ensure correct depth, width and alignment
  • Working closely with site supervisors, groundworkers and roller operators
  • Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance on paving equipment
  • Ensuring all work is completed to project specifications and deadlines
  • Assisting with manual tasks when required, including shovelling and raking
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
  • Adhering to all site health, safety and environmental procedures

Requirements

  • Valid Paver Ticket / Machine Operator Certification – CPCS or NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) (mandatory)
  • Proven experience operating asphalt / tarmac paving machines
  • Good understanding of paving processes and site operations
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices on site
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • CSCS Card
  • Previous experience on highways or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Additional plant tickets – roller, dumper or similar
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance
  • 5+ years of tarmac / asphalt paving experience
