We are seeking experienced External Works Groundworkers with strong snagging expertise to help deliver high-quality projects across our sites. If you take pride in precision, workmanship, and delivering projects to the highest standard, we want to hear from you.
The Role
As an External Works Groundworker, you will play a key role in delivering and finishing works to specification, ensuring all drainage, infrastructure, and external works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Essential Requirements
- Confident in reading and interpreting drawings and technical documentation
- Competent in the setup and safe use of trench boxes, drag boxes, and manhole boxes
- Proficient in the use of pipe lasers
- Experienced in laying concrete, clay, and plastic pipes (all sizes), ensuring correct bedding, surround, line, level, and testing
- Skilled in groundwater management, including selecting and setting up appropriate pumps
- Knowledgeable in correct trench backfilling procedures
- Experienced in manhole benching
- Confident working around live services and applying safe service avoidance techniques
- Strong experience in external works including kerbs, edgings, slabs, and block paving
- Detailed knowledge of materials and specifications relating to:
- Underground drainage
- Road formation and build-up
- Kerbing and edging
- Slab laying and block paving
- Hard and soft landscaping works
- Able to carry out daily pre-start plant safety inspections and routine maintenance checks, reporting service requirements to site management in good time
Desirable Skills & Experience
- CPCS/NPORS tickets
- Experience operating telehandlers, dumpers, and rollers
- 510+ years experience in skilled groundworks
- Established gangs or teams with proven experience working together
