Coinford are specialists in Groundwork and RC Frames. We are seeking an experienced Appointed Person / Lift Supervisor to join our team on a long term project in Bristol. As the designated AP, you will be the single point of authority for all lifting operations on site - responsible for planning, authorising and supervising every lift to the highest standards of safety and compliance. This is a critical role requiring strong technical knowledge, decisive leadership and an unwavering commitment to safe systems of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the designated Appointed Person (AP) - the single point of authority for all lifting operations on site
- Planning and authorising all lifting operations in strict accordance with LOLER 1998 and BS 7121 standards
- Producing detailed lift plans, method statements (RAMS) and risk assessments for all lifts
- Supervising all aspects of lifting operations on site and ensuring the competence of the lifting team
- Briefing and managing the lifting team including Crane Operators and Slinger Signallers
- Ensuring all lifting accessories, equipment and plant are inspected, certified and fit for purpose
- Maintaining accurate lifting records and documentation in line with site and client requirements
- Communicating effectively with site management, engineers and the wider site team
Requirements
- CPCS A61 Appointed Person card (essential)
- CPCS Blue Crane Supervisor card (essential)
- CPCS / NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Slinger / Signaller - All Types, All Duties
- Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
- Demonstrable experience as a Lift Supervisor / AP on major civil engineering or construction projects
- In‑depth knowledge of LOLER 1998, BS 7121 and current lifting legislation
- Ability to produce comprehensive lift plans and RAMS to a high standard
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a lifting team confidently
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced construction environment
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well with other trades and operatives on site
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience on RC frame, groundwork or infrastructure projects
- Temporary Works Supervisor qualification
- First Aid at Work Certification
- 5+ years of experience as an Appointed Person / Lift Supervisor
