Weβre looking for an experienced Pipelayer, ideally with a Drainage Top Man or established drainage partner, to join our teams on long-term projects offering real continuity of work.
This role suits skilled drainage operatives who take pride in quality, safety, and getting the job done right first time.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and drainage details
- Set up and safely use trench boxes, drag boxes, and manhole boxes
- Confident use of pipe lasers for accurate line and level
- Lay concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of all sizes, ensuring correct:
- Bedding and surround
- Alignment and levels
- Testing and compliance
- Manage groundwater effectively, including selecting and setting up appropriate pumps
- Ensure trenches are backfilled correctly and safely
- Carry out benching to all manholes to specification
- Work safely around live services using service avoidance techniques
- Carry out associated external works where required, including:
- Kerbs, edgings, slabs, and block paving
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of materials and correct installation methods relating to:
- Road build-up and formation
- Kerbing, slab laying, and block paving
- Hard and soft landscaping works
- Complete daily pre-start plant safety inspections and basic maintenance checks, reporting any service requirements promptly to site management
- Proven experience as a Pipelayer on residential or infrastructure groundworks projects
- Confident working independently or as part of a drainage gang
- Strong understanding of drainage specifications and quality standards
- Commitment to safe systems of work and high-quality workmanship
- Confined Spaces Qualification
- Additional CPCS/NPORS tickets (e.g. Dumper, Roller, Telehandler)
- 5β10+ yearsβ experience in skilled groundworks and drainage
- Valid CSCS Card
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Able to work effectively with site management, engineers, and other trades
- Support programme delivery and maintain site standards
- Right to work in the UK
