We are looking for an experienced Tarmac Roller Operative to join our team on a busy project in the Kent Region. You will be responsible for operating ride‑on rollers to compact asphalt safely and efficiently, ensuring a high‑quality finish in line with project specifications across both machine lay and hand lay surfacing works.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operating ride‑on rollers safely and efficiently to compact asphalt surfaces
  • Ensuring correct compaction of tarmac in line with specifications and required tolerances
  • Working closely with paver operators, screwmen, rakehands and foremen
  • Following behind the paver to achieve a smooth, even and durable finish
  • Carrying out daily pre‑start checks and basic maintenance on plant equipment
  • Monitoring surface conditions and adjusting rolling patterns as required
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Assisting the gang with general site duties when required
  • Keeping plant clean and in good working condition at all times
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS (CSCS‑affiliated) Ride‑On Roller Ticket
  • Proven experience operating ride‑on rollers on tarmac surfacing works
  • Good understanding of asphalt compaction techniques and surfacing processes
  • Ability to work effectively within machine lay and hand lay gangs
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices on site
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Right to work in the UK
DESIRABLE
  • Experience working on highways or large‑scale infrastructure projects
  • Additional plant tickets (e.g. Dumper, Paver, Excavator)
  • CSCS card if not already included with plant qualification
  • Strong understanding of different asphalt types and finishes
  • Experience working within established surfacing gangs
