ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced Tarmac Tractor Operative to join our team on a busy project in [Region]. You will be responsible for operating site tractors and attachments to support tarmac surfacing operations, ensuring materials, equipment and plant are moved safely and efficiently to maintain smooth site productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating site tractors safely and efficiently across tarmac surfacing projects
- Transporting materials, tools and equipment around site as required
- Working closely with machine lay and hand lay tarmac gangs to support operations
- Pulling attachments where required (e.g. bowsers, sweepers, rollers or trailers)
- Assisting with site setup, logistics and general support duties
- Carrying out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant
- Ensuring safe operation of machinery at all times in line with RAMS
- Supporting site cleanliness and organisation
- Adhering to all health, safety and environmental procedures
- Assisting with general duties to support surfacing programme delivery
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid CPCS or NPORS (CSCS‑affiliated) Tractor Ticket
- Proven experience operating tractors on construction or surfacing sites
- Good understanding of site safety and plant operations
- Ability to work effectively within tarmac gangs and site teams
- Reliable, punctual and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all conditions
- Right to work in the UK
DESIRABLE
- Experience working on tarmac surfacing or highways projects
- Additional plant tickets (e.g. Dumper, Roller, Excavator)
- Experience with towing site equipment such as bowsers or sweepers
- Good communication skills and teamwork ability
- Flexible approach to site duties and responsibilities
