We are looking for an experienced Tarmac Roller Operative to join our team on busy projects in the Kent Region. You will be responsible for operating ride-on rollers to compact asphalt safely and efficiently, ensuring a high-quality finish in line with project specifications across both machine lay and hand lay surfacing works.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operating ride-on rollers safely and efficiently to compact asphalt surfaces.
  • Ensuring correct compaction of tarmac in line with specifications and required tolerances.
  • Working closely with paver operators, screwmen, rakehands and foremen.
  • Following behind the paver to achieve a smooth, even and durable finish.
  • Carrying out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Monitoring surface conditions and adjusting rolling patterns as required.
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Assisting the gang with general site duties when required.
  • Keeping plant clean and in good working condition at all times.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Ride-On Roller Ticket.
  • Proven experience operating ride-on rollers on tarmac surfacing works.
  • Good understanding of asphalt compaction techniques and surfacing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively within machine lay and hand lay gangs.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices on site.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Right to work in the UK.
DESIRABLE
  • Experience working on highways or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Additional plant tickets (e.g. Dumper, Paver, Excavator).
  • CSCS card if not already included with plant qualification.
  • Strong understanding of different asphalt types and finishes.
  • Experience working within established surfacing gangs.
