Leigh Academy Mascalls is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Visual Art Technician to maintain our high standards and provide comprehensive support to our staff and students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. This is a pivotal role within our creative faculty, requiring technical expertise, organisational precision, and a proactive approach to studio management.
Key Responsibilities
- Studio & Resource Management: Maintain studios, equipment, and specialist spaces including kilns, printing presses, and darkrooms to a professional standard.
- Technical Assistance: Provide direct technical guidance to students during practical sessions, supporting their mastery of specialist media and artistic techniques.
- Curatorial Support: Lead the presentation of student work, responsible for mounting, framing, and installation of displays and formal exhibitions that showcase the department's output.
- Logistics & Procurement: Oversee departmental stock, manage the procurement of supplies, and maintain an accurate inventory to ensure the department remains fully equipped.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all studio activities comply with current Health and Safety legislation.
- Maintain rigorous COSHH documentation for all materials, including solvents, glazes, and dyes.
- Conduct regular safety audits of machinery and hand tools to ensure a secure learning environment.
