Job Summary
We are looking for an occupational therapist who is passionate about working with children aged 4‑25 years with complex needs in a multidisciplinary team across the London Borough of Sutton.
About the Organisation
Cognus Therapies is a multidisciplinary team supporting children and young people within schools, colleges, and specialist provisions. The Band 5 therapist will work mainly at the Sherwood Foundation School – Sherwood Hill Campus, Carshalton, Surrey (SM5 3HW) and also at the Cognus Ltd base in Wallington.
Role & Responsibilities
- Work within a multidisciplinary occupational therapy team.
- Visit children and young people in their educational settings.
- Complete assessments and deliver therapy programmes to individuals or small groups.
- Offer advice and support to parents/carers and teaching staff.
- Maintain high‑standard records and reporting.
- Liaise with school staff, head teachers, SENDCos and other professionals.
- Contribute to statutory assessments, EHCP reviews and professional advice.
- Attend team meetings, clinical and managerial supervision.
- Promote evidence‑based practice, participate in clinical audits and CPD activities.
- Ensure all safeguarding, data protection and health‑and‑safety policies are followed.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Degree level or equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered with HCPC and RCOT.
- Knowledge of assessment tools and therapy interventions.
- Excellent organisational and ICT skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.

Desirable
- Prioritising and delivering high‑standard results.
- Experience working in educational settings.
- Experience as a paediatric occupational therapist.
Employment Details
Salary: £35,073.92 – £44,026.66 a year (including HCAS, pro‑rata for term time only).
Contract: Permanent.
Working pattern: Full‑time, flexible and term‑time hours.
