Are you passionate about designing services that make a real difference in people’s lives? At Cognizant, we partner with public sector organisations across the UK to help modernise and transform the services relied on by millions. As one of our fastest‑growing business areas, we support government, defence and healthcare clients as they navigate complex digital transformation journeys.

We’re looking for a Service Designer to join our team — someone who’s motivated by meaningful work, thrives in collaborative environments, and wants to create services that are simpler, clearer and faster for citizens and businesses alike.

Why this role matters? As a Service Designer at Cognizant, you’ll take an end‑to‑end view of how services work today — and how they should work tomorrow. You’ll identify gaps, opportunities and friction points across all touchpoints, whether digital or non-digital, ensuring each service feels seamless and intuitive. This is a role where your work has visible impact: you’ll shape services that help government deliver better outcomes for citizens while supporting a more efficient, modern public sector.

What you’ll be doing: You will play a key role in designing and shaping services by:

  • Identifying the best delivery methods and processes to meet user and organisational needs.
  • Helping teams visualise outcomes, prioritise effectively, and work toward clear MVPs and delivery plans.
  • Translating technical and business requirements into clear, user‑focused insights that different audiences can act on.
  • Facilitating challenging conversations and bringing alignment to teams and senior stakeholders.

What you’ll bring to the role: We’re looking for someone who brings curiosity, empathy and creativity to their work, along with:

  • Experience using a range of prototyping methods to explore and validate ideas.
  • Strong knowledge of GDS standards and how to apply them effectively.
  • Experience delivering services that meet the needs of users across multiple channels.
  • Hands‑on experience in user research and turning insights into impactful design decisions.
