We are looking for a creative, strategic, and detail-oriented UX/UI Designer to join our team, with a specialist focus on designing interfaces for LLM-based chat applications and AI-powered chatbots. The ideal candidate will combine deep user experience expertise with a strong grasp of conversational UI patterns, applying structured design thinking — including empathy mapping, ideation, wireframing, and prototyping in Figma — to craft intuitive, engaging, and human-centred AI chat experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements for LLM-based chat interfaces and AI chatbot products, working in close collaboration with product managers, AI/ML engineers, and conversational designers.
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, conversation flows, process flows, and sitemaps, with particular focus on mapping human-AI dialogue journeys and chatbot interaction patterns.
  • Design graphic user interface elements for AI chat products, including message bubbles, response cards, prompt suggestion panels, feedback mechanisms, loading states, and multi-turn conversation layouts.
  • Create low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity UI mock-ups and interactive prototypes in Figma that clearly illustrate how LLM chat applications function, behave, and look across web and mobile platforms.
  • Plan and conduct user research and usability testing specifically for conversational AI interfaces, including task analysis, think-aloud sessions, and evaluation of AI response comprehension and trust.
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g., images, sketches, and tables).
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems specific to AI chat interfaces, such as response latency handling, error states, prompt disambiguation, and conversational dead-ends.
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colours, and images.
  • Stay current with the rapidly evolving landscape of AI/LLM products, conversational UI patterns, and emerging best practices for designing human-AI interaction experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a UX/UI Designer or similar role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design projects, ideally including examples of conversational UI, chatbot interfaces, or AI-powered product design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma (including components, auto-layout, prototyping, and collaborative design workflows); familiarity with Adobe XD, Sketch, or InVision is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce wireframes at multiple fidelity levels, from rapid paper sketches and low-fidelity digital wireframes through to fully interactive Figma prototypes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with user research and usability testing for AI or conversational products, including methods such as contextual inquiry, cognitive walkthroughs, and AI-specific evaluation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and JavaScript for rapid prototyping; exposure to LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) to understand AI capabilities and constraints from a design perspective.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.

Design Requirements and Methodologies:

  • User-Centered Design (UCD): Apply UCD principles specifically to AI chat products, ensuring LLM responses and interface behaviours align with real user goals, mental models, and expectations of conversational AI systems.
  • Design Thinking: Apply the full Design Thinking process — Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test — within the context of UX/UI for LLM-based chat products. This includes empathy mapping for AI users, ideation of novel conversational interaction patterns, rapid wireframing in Figma, and iterative testing of chatbot flows to validate design decisions.
  • Double Diamond Model: Utilize this or similar structured design methodology that differentiates between divergent and convergent thinking during the design process.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Build multi-fidelity prototypes in Figma — from low-fidelity wireframes to fully interactive, high-fidelity mock-ups — and conduct structured usability testing sessions with end users to validate chatbot conversation flows, interface clarity, and overall AI interaction quality.
  • Information Architecture: Organize and structure content in a way that is understandable and accessible to users.
  • Accessibility: Ensure designs are inclusive and accessible to users with disabilities or sensory impairments.

Preferred Project Experience:

  • Experience designing AI, chatbot, or conversational interfaces; background in Retail, Consumer Goods, or Utilities sectors is a bonus.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional, multi-geography teams including AI/ML engineers, product managers, and conversational designers in fast-paced Agile environments.
