Our Banking & Financial Services Consulting Practice is looking for an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Consulting, with proven experience in identifying, closing, and delivering consulting services in the UK&I to banks and building societies, to join us on our journey to become the preeminent technology services partner to the Global 2000. We are looking for a “rainmaker” experienced in crafting, selling, and delivering techno-functional consulting propositions that address the most pressing needs of institutions providing retail banking, business banking and lending services to the UK&I market. This position will help us to expand our consulting business further with our existing UK&I BFS clients, who are already benefitting from several Cognizant services and solutions, while at the same time establishing and growing business in those areas where we currently do not have a substantive presence.

At the AVP Level, this means driving cost effective end-to-end execution of consultant engagements, cultivating practice innovations, achieving financial targets (utilization, expenditures, revenue, margin), promoting Cognizant Consulting’s vision & mission, and building high performing teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the BFS Consulting Region Leader, bringing your areas of domain expertise to Cognizant’s clients.
• Own and develop the UK&I book of business, actively engaging in business development efforts.
• Key metrics will include: Consulting Sales, Revenue, Gross Margin, and Operating Margin on target accounts.
• Increase Consulting’s penetration on target accounts.
• Engage in key account expansion, sales leadership, and internal executive stakeholder partnering.
• Establish and nurture relationships with cross-functional client executives.
• Exercise quality assurance for engagements within your remit.
• Support and develop a long-term vision for expanding Cognizant’s footprint in target accounts.
• Work with BFS Consulting Practice leaders to ensure timely and accurate revenue and sales forecasting.
• Define and execute an effective people management strategy.
• Mentor and coach consulting associates; lead people development and community-building activities.
• Participate in relevant industry panels and forums to promote Cognizant’s capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (engineering or science related degree preferred but not mandatory).
• 20 + years of experience in establishing and building consulting presence across divisions in one or more UK&I financial institutions.
• Experience selling business advisory/consulting services for IT services firms.
• A successful history of setting and achieving account-based engagement targets.
• Knowledge of current and anticipated industry developments relevant to the UK&I Banking market.
• Ability to personally engage senior executives in discussions regarding domain specific business issues.
• Possession of a robust network of contacts and presence in target accounts.
• A hands-on leadership approach to create a culture and drive followership.
